Christopher Kane Headscarf

Wearing: Vintage embroidered collar blouse, Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop dress and DIY plastic head shawls.

I jumped at the opportunity to recreate one of Christopher Kane's looks from London Fashion Week using nothing more than the colourful plastic bags I've collected over numerous trips to the grocery store and butcher's. The plastic rain bonnets were a collaborative effort between Kane and master milliner Stephen Jones echoing the fabulous women of Advanced Style and Queen Elizabeth II. When styled with matted hair, mad florals and faded 1970s pop tones the accessories are chic, utilitarian and nutty. Kane's mother, who apparently rocked a plastic rain bonnet when picking the kids up from school, passed away a year ago now. The collection is as much a tribute to her, as it is to anyone who identifies as being an outsider, but it also lends inspiration to those who want to hide their bad hair days with a plastic bag.
